Content Management Services
CMS: Web Design Hosting and Training:
The Community Supported Web
We welcome your interest in CMS. Our goal is to provide your
department with an easy to manage, pleasing to the eye and cutting edge
and standards compliant web site. We hope you will want to join other
departments in the College in bringing an easier to maintain, standards
compliant web site.
Who is in charge of the CMS program?
We view the CMS program as a shared resource. As such we want our
membership to help giude us in meeting their common needs. From the
OASIS side Sean
Semone (Associate Director for Enterprise Applications) is
spearheading the CMS program in the College. Feel free to contact him
to discuss becoming a part of this program or just to learn more about
it.
What is CMS?
A Content Management System is a set of tools (often web-based) used
to handle the day-to-day updates on a web site. In some cases these are
approached as “web-only” solutions in which all creation and editing of
content happens directly within the web site itself. While many
commercial products exist our goal is to provide you with the best bang
for the buck. OASIS offers an open-source solution CMS known as Plone
(see http://www.plone.org
for more).
How can I find out more?
You can read the entire program description which discusses in detail what is and is not included in the service.
