OASIS Technology Productivity Workshops

Posted by Jeff VanDrimmelen at Sep 25, 2009 09:18 AM |

Demands on our time have reached epic levels due to ubiquitous access to communication and information. Employees, clients, students, and colleagues insist on immediate response and engagement. Finding the time to manage resources to interact effectively is increasingly difficult, but solutions exist!

Zachary Fisher and Jeff VanDrimmelen, Instructional Technologists from OASIS, are leading three workshops designed to give you solid ideas about how to successfully organize your life and take back ownership of your limited time.

We will explore popular time management techniques like David Allen's Getting Things Done and Stephen Covey's First Things First, but the main focus will be on helping you establish a method for organizing tasks and to-do lists, calendar items, and e-mail and on exploring other organizational and time-saving applications.

There will be three classes to choose from:

Event Tips and Tricks to Help you Manage Your Email (05 Howell Hall "Sandbox", on Thursday, Oct 08, 2009 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM)
Do you have thousands and thousands of emails in your inbox?  This workshop is designed to give you solid ideas about how to successfully organize your email system. We will explore popular time management techniques like David Allen's Getting Things Done and Stephen Covey's First Things First, but the majority of the time will be spent helping attendees to work on their own rules/filters, and Zero-inbox techniques.
Event Calendar, Tasks and other Productivity Technologies (05 Howell Hall "Sandbox", on Thursday Oct 15, 2009 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM)
This workshop is an extension of the "Tips, Tricks to Help you Manage your Email" workshop and will further explore tools and theories to manage your calendar and task lists. We will also introduce other tools to help you manage your time like flash readers and RSS feeds.
Event Tips, Tricks, and Technology to Help You Successfully Manage your Time (05 Howell Hall "Sandbox", on Thursday Oct 29, 2009 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM)
This half-day seminar is a combination of the "Tips and Tricks and Help you Manage your Email" and the "Calendar, Tasks and other Productivity Technologies." It is designed to give you solid ideas about how to successfully organize your life and take back ownership of your limited time. We will explore popular time management techniques like David Allen's Getting Things Done and Stephen Covey's First Things First, but the main focus will be on helping you establish a method for organizing tasks and to-do lists, calendar items, and e-mail and on exploring other organizational and time-saving applications. Opportunities will be provided to share experiences and ideas.
